Managing Director - Strategy and Growth Copper at Rio Tinto | Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Munkhsukh is a Managing Director at Rio Tinto where he is overseeing the growth and development of its copper portfolio including OT and other projects located globally.
He started his career at CITCO, a funds service company in the US, and was an important enabler of its accelerated growth throughout in the mid-2000s. He returned to Mongolia in 2008 to set up a investment fund and later in 2009 joined Newcom group to lead its domestic airline business “Eznis” through the boom and bust of mining cycle in Mongolia.
Munkhsukh joined Rio Tinto in 2013 at OT to lead its power strategy unit and lead the negotiation with Government of Mongolia on underground expansion as well as power related issues. He moved to Brisbane in 2016 to oversee strategic development projects including the company’s green energy strategy.
He holds a MBA degree from UC Berkeley and a black belt jiu-jitsu wrestler and currently serves as the president of the Jiu-Jitsu Association of Mongolia. An avid mountain climber, Munkhsukh is a father of four boys.
