Our mission is to empower, encourage, and engage the next generation of youth while acting as a bridge for Mongolian Americans to reach their fullest personal and professional potentials. We strive to achieve our mission by I) Providing professional development training, career fair, and networking opportunities, II) providing a safe and encouraging platform for Mongolian Americans to freely express their opinions and innovative ideas, and III) promoting and fostering leadership skills.
It has been less than a year since the official registration of MNG Summit, but board members of the organization have been involved in various activities to support the mission for nearly 8 years. Two projects organized by the members have matured over time to become the biggest annual events held for Mongolians in the US. These are: "I have a Voice" speech competition and "Mongolian American Career Fair."
“Mongolian American Career Fair”, also known as MACF, is a 3-day event with a purpose to connect job seekers to hiring employers across the U.S. and Mongolia. In addition to the career fair, several other activities take place during the event which include a tour of the hosting city, networking receptions, keynote speaker, panel discussions, workshops, resume review, mock interviews, and career advice. Throughout the 3 days, participants are connected, engaged, inspired, and empowered to take the next big step in their career. On average, MACF attracts about 200 students and working professionals to attend.
The very first MACF successfully took place in Chicago, IL in 2014 through the support and partnership of several Mongolian associations in the US, the Mongolian Labor Department, and the Mongolian Embassy in the US. MACF 2018 will held in the city of Los Angeles in California.
Mongolia continues to lose its highly educated and quality human capital to other countries due to the opportunities they lack to offer, therefore the utmost goal of MACF is to stop and reverse this brain-drain problem. MACF is established and set to serve as the bridge between top Mongolian companies and Mongolian-American young professionals who have earned high-quality education that possess the skillsets to compete in the global market.
The need to recruit and hire qualified employees with the applicable skills, attitude, and experience are always constant in Mongolian corporations. The employers stated that despite the prevalent job ads on local newspapers, media, and websites, the chances of finding and hiring a qualified candidate are low. MACF seeks to aid in this challenging process by connecting these companies to job-seekers who have earned global standard education and experience that can enrich their global competitiveness.
There are many Mongolians studying in America’s top prestigious universities that travel back to Mongolia during their summer breaks. MACF also aims to serve as a platform to connect students who are seeking internship opportunities in Mongolia.
MACF is a 3-day event organized for Mongolian young professionals and students who are attending prestigious universities and colleges in the United States.
The duration of this event is three days, which include the hosting city’s introductory tour, opportunities to explore globally known corporate offices, networking events to connect with other young professionals from all around the country, keynote speaker presentation, panel discussion, resume and career development workshops, mock interviews, and the actual career fair. The past events attracted over 100-150 participants who traveled from various states.
The very first MACF was held in Chicago in 2014, followed by Washington DC, San Francisco, and Seattle.
The fifth anniversary event will take place in sunny Los Angeles, California. The city tour will hit popular attractions such as the Hollywood Observatory, Walk of Fame, LACMA Urban Lights, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach. There will also be opportunities for a limited number of guests to explore LA’s most respected corporate offices. As mentioned previously, our guest speakers will include highly accomplished and knowledged Mongolian professionals who will share their experiences and give career related advice to our attendees. Our agenda not only covers just the afternoon, but nighttime as well with our networking events and cocktail hours, so there is no need to worry about having no plans or not knowing many people there. The actual career fair takes place on Day 3, where our attendees will have opportunities to meet with HR representatives from Mongolian and American corporations and inquire possible employment openings. Don’t forget to bring your resumes! Last but not least, representatives from the Mongolian Department of Labour and the Mongolian Embassy of America will be present at MACF 2018 to share updates and insights on the Mongolian economy, education, and employment.
Around 30 students and young professionals from different states have been assigned to 7 teams and have started working as organizers from November of 2017. Board members of “MNG Summit” NPO, the parent organization of this event, have worked as organizing members since the inception and continue to do so.
The event takes place March 24- 26 of 2018.
